Two early runs sank the Toledo softball team, which fell 2-1 at Toutle Lake on Monday in its Central 2B League finale.
Toutle’s Naomi Chavez led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run, putting the hosts ahead, and the Ducks added another run on a walk, a single, and an error before Bethany Bowen could get the Riverhawks back in the dugout.
Bowen shut Toutle Lake out the rest of the way, finishing with nine strikeouts and no more walks, but Toledo’s offense was only able to muster a single run, on back-to-back doubles by Mialeigh Jurica and Quyn Norberg in the third.
Toledo is locked into the No. 3 seed from the Central 2B League in the upcoming 2B District 4 tournament. The Riverhawks will face the C2BL No. 7 at Rec Park in Chehalis in a loser-out game on May 15.
