The Morton-White Pass baseball team drew first blood Wednesday in Cowlitz County, but Toutle Lake proved to be much too much as soon as it got its first crack at the plate, dropping four straight crooked numbers to beat the T-Wolves 15-1 in five innings.
MWP lead 1-0 after Brecken Pelletier reached on a dropped third strike, stole second, stole third, and came home on an error. From there, though, TL’s Zach Swanson struck out nine of the next 10 batters he faced, finishing with 11 punchouts.
Toutle Lake scored three runs in the first inning, three in the second, five in the third, and four in the fourth to get it to run-rule territory.
The T-Wolves were set to host the other side of the two-game series against the Ducks on Thursday.
