The Washington State Patrol is seeking help from the public to identify and locate a suspect in a road-rage incident from last month in Lakewood that ended in gunfire.

State troopers said the driver of a black Lincoln SUV fired two gunshots at a Kia sedan after the car merged in front of the SUV onto northbound Interstate 5.

The incident occurred June 25 about 8:41 p.m. when the Kia entered the interchange ramp from Bridgeport Way Southwest to Interstate 5, according to the release. Troopers said the Kia merged in front of the SUV while on the ramp, and the SUV immediately began tailgating it.

After the vehicles got onto the interstate, troopers said the driver of the SUV pulled beside the Kia's driver's side and pulled out a green handgun. The driver fired two gunshots at the sedan, striking it once in the car's rear, driver's-side door. The SUV continued north on Interstate 5.

Troopers said anyone who witnessed road rage or aggressive driving at about 8:40 p.m. June 25 on northbound Interstate 5 between Bridgeport Way Southwest and state Route 512 might have helpful information. Anyone with information was asked to contact Detective Tess Schahfer at 253-538-3172.
