An unidentified driver crashed into a power pole overnight Thursday in Mason County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 2:50 a.m., the driver was headed east on state Route 302 not far from the town of Allyn. Troopers say the driver left the road and crashed into a power pole, which snapped it in half. Downed power lines then ignited a fire about 200 feet in diameter, according to the State Patrol.

Meanwhile, the driver fled from the scene before law enforcement could arrive. The Olympian has reached out to the State Patrol for more information about the driver and vehicle.

Following the crash, the road was fully blocked for four hours, according to the State Patrol.
