Castle Rock police arrested a Portland woman Wednesday after a brief chase that ended when her vehicle crashed into an unoccupied building.

The Castle Rock Police Department reports officers were dispatched at roughly 4 a.m. to a reported stolen car from the Shell gas station at 1178 Mt. Saint Helens Way Northeast.

An officer found the driver in the 3000 block of Spirit Lake Memorial Highway and attempted to pull the driver over. However, the driver fled, reaching speeds over 90 mph, which launched a police chase, the department notice states.

The chase went through Toutle, but when the alleged stolen car failed to make a turn, she crashed into a building.

The driver, Kirsti L. Bennett, 31, of Portland, was booked into the Cowlitz County Jail at about 5:17 a.m., on Wednesday for suspicion of attempted theft of a motor vehicle, attempting to elude law enforcement, and driving with a suspended license.

Court records show Bennett's bail was set at $10,000 and a public defender has been appointed to represent her. She has a hearing scheduled for June 26.
