Douglas Edward Crawford passed away peacefully, Sept. 20, 2014 after a brief illness with his wife Doris, by his side. Doug was 86 years old, just three weeks shy of his 87th birthday. Doug was born Oct. 12, 1927 in Missouri, to Hanson and Lulu Crawford.

He graduated from the University of Kansas and became a civil engineer. Doug worked in many places, including Alaska, California, Washington and South America.  At the time of his death, his civil engineer license was still current in the State of Washington.

Doug married Doris Aileen Elias, Nov. 26, 1964. They were looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

They were active in the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Chehalis.

Doug and Doris enjoyed traveling, including trips to Africa, Scotland and Canada. They also enjoyed driving to their Florida home every October and returning back to Adna in April.

Doug was preceded in death by his brother Donald and his parents, Hanson and Lulu Crawford.

He is survived by his wife Doris; brother Earl of Washington, Illinois; two sisters-in-law Ida of Lakeside, California and Jean of Weyburn Saskatchewan, Canada; two brothers-in-law Herbert and Victor, who both live near Creelman Saskatchewan, Canada. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends, including friend and financial advisor, Bill Heisinger of Sacramento, California and friend and caregiver, Linda Anderson of Adna, Washington.

Doug will be missed and remembered for his great story telling, his generosity and kindness, as well as his thrifty ways. Chehalis McDonalds will miss the two senior coffees plus refills in a carrier to go, each day at 2:00 p.m.

A visitation for Doug will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Sticklin Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11:30 on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chehalis, with reception to follow. Burial will take place at Claquato Cemetery following the reception.
