Construction is set to begin soon on the new Riverside Garden housing development, as around 80 people, including the developers, architects and Centralia city councilors and staff, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the development on Thursday, June 26.
Riverside Garden is a mixed housing development from the Sunrise Fortune Investment Group of Bellevue. It will be located at the end of East Roanoke Street not far from the banks of the Skookumchuck River on the Waunch Prairie in Centralia.
“Today marks a new beginning. We are breaking ground. We are building a brighter future,” Sunrise Fortune CEO Lili Lu said. “This project is more than just new homes; it’s a gateway to brighter opportunities, jobs and a stronger, more united community.”
She added her team is dedicated to building something they can all be proud of.
Centralia’s Community Development Director Emil Pearson also spoke.
“In the 30 years I’ve been doing planning, you usually don’t sit down with a developer and go through all the issues. It just doesn’t usually happen,” Pearson said. “In this case, meeting with George (Ren), and Lili and Xiaoguang (Zhang), they sat down (saying), ‘Let’s meet together to solve the problems.’ And we were able to do that, making an absolutely fantastic project that has only gotten better every time we sit down.”
Zhang is the owner of ZO Architecture LLC of Bellevue, which partnered with Sunrise Fortune to help design Riverside Garden.
When completed, Riverside Garden will have a total of 89 units of both single-family homes and townhouses, along with amenities including access to local trails, a picnic area, kids playground, natural open space and pickleball courts.
