Napavine’s Karsen Denault became the latest area athlete to hit a major scoring milestone on Tuesday, scoring 20 points in Napavine’s 71-35 win over Winlock to pass the 1,000-point mark.
Denault needed exactly 20 to get to 1,000, and after he scored his 20th point of the night, he was presented a commemorative basketball at midcourt.
Denault was all over the floor to lead the Tigers, finishing with his 20 points, 11 rebounds, three blocks, and a pair of steals to help Napavine build a 26-point lead at halftime.
Hudson Chambers added 13 points and four assists, while Cal Bullock scored 12 points, hauled in nine rebounds, and had four steals.
Jack Nelson added four points, seven rebounds, and four assists of his own.
Landen Cline led the Cardinals with nine points, four steals, and three assists, while Carter Svenson added six points. Mason Ruiz scored five points and nabbed six rebounds, while Freddy Patching scored five points and tallied seven rebounds.
Both teams return to the court on Thursday, when Winlock (4-7, 3-5 C2BL) hosts Morton-White Pass and Napavine (8-1, 6-0 C2BL) goes to Toledo.
