Delays coming on I-5 in Centralia as WSDOT plans to close all lanes overnight March 10

Posted

Travelers who use Interstate 5 through Centralia should plan ahead for overnight delays, according to a news release from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

On Sunday, March 10, bridge maintenance crews working for WSDOT will close all lanes in both directions of Interstate 5 near Harrison Avenue to clean the steel structures along both spans of the Skookumchuck Bridge at milepost 82.28.

“Fully closing the highway provides maintenance crews the space needed for bridge cleaning equipment and helps to keep both travelers and road crews safe,” WSDOT stated in the release.

From 9 p.m., Sunday, March 10, until 5 a.m., Monday, March 11, crews will fully close northbound and southbound I-5 and detour all travelers to use the off- and on-ramps at Exit 82 for Harrison Avenue. All travelers will exit the highway, travel along the off- and on-ramps and then re-enter onto I-5.

“Travelers are reminded to slow down as they approach the work zone, follow directional signs, have patience and expect delays,” WSDOT stated.
