Walla Walla County voters returned 5,556 ballots in the general election as of Wednesday, Oct. 29.
In Columbia County, 668 ballots had been returned, according to data from the Office of the Secretary of State.
Ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4, to be counted. Ballots can be returned to drop boxes throughout each county or by mail if postmarked by Election Day. Drop boxes are open 24 hours a day until 8 p.m. election night.
The Columbia County Auditor's Office recommended that ballots returned after Tuesday, Oct. 28, go to drop boxes, instead of mailboxes, to ensure they’re received on time.

Walla Walla County
* Walla Walla County Health Department: 314 W Main St., located in the alley between Main and Rose, enter on Sixth Avenue.
* Walla Walla Fire Station No. 2: 170 N Wilbur Ave. at the corner of Wilbur and Tacoma.
* College Place City Hall: 625 S. College Ave.
* Columbia Elementary School: 977 Maple St. in Burbank.
* Waitsburg City Hall: 106 Main St. at the corner of First and Main.
* Touchet School District: 90 Champion St. in Touchet.
* Prescott School District: 207 S. A St.
Ballots can also be returned in person to the Walla Walla County Courthouse, 315 W. Main St. in the lobby or Elections Office Room 203. The Courthouse is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. election night.
Columbia County
* Auditor’s Office: 115 E. Main St. in Dayton
Umatilla County
* Athena City Hall: 302 E. Currant St. in Athena
* Pendleton Courthouse: 216 SE 4th St. in Pendleton
* Milton-Freewater City Hall-Police Station: 722 S. Main St. in Milton-Freewater
