Authorities on Friday afternoon recovered the body of a man who was found floating face-down in the Lake River.
A 911 caller reported finding the body north of the Ridgefield Marina around 2:45 p.m., the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Ridgefield police, sheriff’s deputies and Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue team members converged on the scene and recovered the man’s body but found “no apparent signs of life” when they pulled him from the water, officials said.
Officials did not release the identity of the man who died or release a cause of death, but said they didn’t find any signs of foul play at the scene.
Emergency responders found an anchored sailboat a few hundred yards away from where the man was found, and investigators found items inside the boat that they believe belonged to the man, officials said.
The incident is under investigation.
