Darlene Rosa (Burr) Tewault: 1939-2023

Darlene Rosa (Burr) Tewault aged 83, was born and raised in Centralia, Washington. She died in Lacey, Washington on May 14, 2023, after a brief illness. 

Darlene was born on June 20, 1939, to Irene and Stanley Burr. 

After raising six children on her own, at the age of 50 she returned to Centralia College earning her high school diploma and an associate’s of arts degree in 1991. She then went on to St. Martin’s College in Lacey, Washington, where she earned her master’s degree in 1994. She holds a BA, MA, Psych A Community Counselor, National Association for Forensic Counseling, and Certification for Domestic Violence working with Lewis, Thurston, Grays Harbor, Mason, and Cowlitz County Courts. She is also a Washington State Department of Veteran Affairs Certified Counselor. In 1995 she acquired Awareness Counseling in Centralia, Washington. 

Darlene was the matriarch of the family, the rock, and the glue. She was also affectionately known as “The Godmother.” Her hobbies were stained glass, painting, quilting and she was an avid reader. Long drives through the countryside, flowers, shopping on QVC and the sharing of fabulous recipes and quilt patterns were some of her favorite pastimes. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, son-in-law John Earley, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

Nine days after she passed, her middle daughter, Cathy Earley passed after a brave battle with cancer. 

She is survived by daughter Terry (Lenard) Dorning of Grand Coulee, Washington; son Steve (Kitty) Peckham of Port Angeles, Washington; son Robbie (Lisa) Peckham of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter Lorie (Brad) Grasmick of Chehalis, Washington and son Tim Peckham of Winlock, Washington. 

Darlene had 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. 

Please join family and friends at 1:00 p.m. on June 17 at Oakview Grange 2715 North Pearl St., Centralia, WA to celebrate the life of Darlene Tewault.
