For the first time in three decades, there’s a new single-game scoring record holder at W.F. West.

Julia Dalan dropped 38 points in the Bearcats’ 68-20 win over Montesano on Tuesday, topping Heather Wilson’s record of 36, one she set in the 1992-93 season.

Dalan didn’t start the night on a record pace, as she missed four shots in the first quarter, but she rebounded to finish the night 18 for 28 from the field.

“It’s kind of been a goal of hers, and she’s been close a couple of times,” W.F. West coach Kyle Karnofski said. “She got the job done. She’s a really cool player to coach, and she’s really fun to watch.”

She also hauled in 20 rebounds and just missed a triple-double with nine blocks.

Dalan’s record-setting night was the cherry on top of a dominant win for the Bearcats (6-0, 2-0 2A EvCo), as they put together what Karnofski thinks was their best performance of the season.

“I think this was our most complete game,” Karnofski said. “I thought we did a good job executing on both ends of the court, and I was really proud of the overall game the group played together.”

Joy Cushman added 13 points and led the team with six assists, whie Lena Fragner tallied five assists and three steals.

The Bearcats will look to push their winning streak to seven games on Thursday when they head north to take on Black Hills.
