WENATCHEE — Prosecutors filed a drug manufacturing charge this week against a Wenatchee man arrested in September after his 1-year-old child suffered an opioid overdose.

Michael Ward Holmes, 29, was charged Tuesday in Chelan County Superior Court with one count of unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance (psilocybin).

Holmes' home was searched by authorities after emergency medical aid was provided to his child, who later recovered at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to the Wenatchee Police Department.

Several suspected illicit substances were found at the scene. Chelan County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Sealby said his office waited until the substances were tested to file charges.

Holmes was summoned to make a preliminary appearance in Superior Court on March 5.
