Crews Respond to Fire at Peppertree West Motor Inn in Centralia

Posted

First responders were dispatched to a fire at the Peppertree West Motor Inn in the 1200 block of Alder Street in Centralia shortly before 6:25 p.m. on Thursday.

Riverside Fire Authority Chief Mike Kytta said at least one person was treated for smoke inhalation.

At around 7:05 p.m., as crews worked to put out hot spots, Kytta said responders were presented with challenges due to the odd-shaped building. He noted firefighters had created a pretty “good loop” around the fire as they worked from one side of the building to the other.

Riverside Capt. Casey McCarthy said crews had a good hold on the blaze and had stopped it from spreading.

Crews from various fire departments systematically worked their way through the building to clear rooms.

Riverside Fire was assisted by the City of Chehalis, Lewis County Fire District 5, Lewis County Fire District 6 and crews from Thurston County.

The cause of the fire was not known at the time. This story will be updated with more information.
