Looking to add some stylish headwear to your wardrobe? Why not make it yourself this Saturday, March 23, at the Lewis County Historical Museum in Chehalis as the museum will host a “Create Your Own Fascinator Headpiece Workshop.” Lewis County Historical Museum Executive Director Jason Mattson said the event is being held in partnership with The Shady Lady in Centralia. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., free of charge, anyone can celebrate springtime’s arrival by making a fascinator headpiece.

Mattson talked about the event during a Lewis County Historical Society board meeting at the museum on Tuesday, March 19. It is the first of quarterly craft events the museum is hoping to continue to host.

Crafting supplies including feathers, rhinestones, flowers and more will be supplied, but attendees are invited to bring their own accessories as well.

“We’ll have some great volunteers here with supplies to help guide you on how to make your own fascinator headpiece,” Mattson said.

While the event is free to attend, a suggested donation of $10 for the Lewis County Historical Museum will be accepted. The Lewis County Historical Museum is located at 540 NW Front St. in downtown Chehalis.

During the board meeting, Mattson also discussed other upcoming events the Lewis County Historical Museum will be hosting in 2024. Look for a story previewing those events in an upcoming edition of The Chronicle.
