Agate Creek Cellars Winery is having a grand opening party on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

All are invited for wine tasting, cheese and chocolates.

Edison PTO Plans Fundraising Auction

The Edison Elementary Parent Teacher Organization is holding an auction from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday to raise funds for classrooms, playground equipment and activities.

The theme at the Centralia school is “An Adventure in Storyland.” Kids and parents are encouraged to wear a costume of their favorite storybook character. Light snacks and desserts will be served.

Joelle Steele to Speak at Writers Guild Workshop

Joelle Steele, an expert writer, copywriter and editor, will be guest speaker when the Lewis County Writers Guild presents a marketing workshop Friday a the Matrix Coffeehouse, Chehalis. A social hour will be at 5 p.m. and presentation at 5:30 p.m. Steele will be talking about the process of preparing documents fur submission as well as tips on tapping the writing market. PSU Professor to Give Talk on Salmon Origins

Virginia Butler, Portland State University, will be speaking Friday about the identification of Pacific salmonid species in the Upper Klamath Basin before hydro development.



The seminar will be noon-2p.m. at the New Science Center, room 121, at Centralia College.

Light refreshments will follow at NSC 309. The event is sponsored by the college and the National Science Foundation.

Five previous winners of national comedy competitions will be battling it out Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Lucky Eagle Casino, Rochester.

The entrants are:

• Gabriel Rutledge, winner of Seattle comedy competition, Comedy Central special and Comedy.com special

• Kermet Apio, winner of Seattle comedy competition and Great American Comedy Festival

• Ron Osbourn, winner of Seattle comedy competition

• Jay Wendell Walker, winner of San Francisco comedy competition

• Auggie Smith, winner of Seattle, San Francisco and Boston comedy festival ( all in one year)

Morgan Arts Centre

to Present Holiday Artists Market

Local artists will be offering art and crafts for sale Saturday and Sunday at the Morgan Arts Centre from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. In addition, live music will be performed Saturday 7-10 p.m. Among the performers will be Maddie Eitel, Joe Green, Joe Batt, Tom Barbara, John Crocker, and Geoff and Amy Bury.

ABATE to Collect Toys and Food for Foster Kids and Food Bank

The Lewis County chapter of ABATE of Washington will be presenting the “Magic of Christmas” Saturday at the Centralia Moose Lodge.

At noon, there will be a bike parade, with Santa leading the way. From 1 to 5 p.m., pictures will Santa on his Harley will be available for $5. Also offered will be kids games, a Tenino motorcycle team demonstration, free hot chocolate, cider, coffee, candy canes, hot dogs and a bake sale. A $15 prime rib dinner (chicken available) will be at 5 p.m. Rock-’n’-roll music for adults will be at 7 p.m. Additional information is available by calling Cindy at (360) 280-4169.
