Jan. 3 at the Newaukum Golf Course, 153 Newaukum Golf Drive, Chehalis; 5:30 to 7 p.m.

This is a free event at the Newaukum Golf Course.

 

Southwest Washington Mycological Society Meeting

Jan. 3 at WSU Lewis County Extension Office, 17 SW Cascade Ave., Chehalis; 6 p.m.

The Southwest Washington Mycological Society will hold a membership meeting and the public is welcome to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring mushrooms from around the area for identification. Members will also have the opportunity to pay annual dues. 

 

Rectangle Gallery Emerging Artists Opening Gala

Jan. 6 at the Rectangle Gallery, 209 N. Tower Ave., Centralia; 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This event is a chance to experience art and meet emerging artists aged 13 to 18.

 

Sensitive Document Shredding

Jan. 7, at the Lewis County Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. Tower Ave., Centralia; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The mobile shredding truck will be at the leaf exchange event in the parking lot before you enter the transfer station. Residents may bring up to three bags or boxes or sensitive documents they would like to have shredded. There is no charge for shredding. The shredded paper will be recycled at a paper recycling facility. 

 

Luncheon and Fellowship For Women

Jan. 9 at the Church of the Nazarene Meeting Room, 1119 W. First St., Centralia; noon to 1:30 p.m.

This event is for women of all ages. There will be a presentation from Laura Loffredo of Portland. Loffredo is a dramatist and will present a dramatic reenactment. Weed Control Community Education Event

Jan. 10 at the Lewis County Historic Courthouse, 351 NW North St., Chehalis; 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This is a free educational event that will take place in the Lower Level BOCC Room of the Historical Courthouse. The event will be worth three pesticide license credits and will cover aquatic weeds in Southwest Washington, NPDES permitting requirements, WSDA Noxious Weed Control permits and navigation of their online system. Disaster Preparedness Class For Families With Vulnerable Children and Adults

Jan. 10 at the Veterans Memorial Museum, 100 SW Veterans Way, Chehalis; 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This event will be hosted by Lewis County Public Health and Social Services, Youth Advocacy Center of Lewis County, Reliable Enterprises and the Lewis County Autism Coalition. The class is designed to help guide families in preparing their vulnerable family members, such as individuals with disabilities or intellectual differences, for emergency events or natural disasters.

 

Powell Mountain Bluegrass Band 

Jan. 14 at the Veterans Memorial Museum, 100 SW Veterans Way, Chehalis; 6 p.m.

This event is presented by the Washington Bluegrass Association. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and are available at the museum or by calling General Cothren at 360-520-4524. 

 

Chris Guenther and the Honky Tonk Drifters

Jan. 14 at American Legion Grant Hodge Post, 111 W. Main St., Centralia; 7 p.m.

There will be an entry fee of $10.

Chamber of Commerce 2023 Annual Banquet

Jan. 20 at the Centralia College TransAlta Commons, 600 Centralia College Blvd., Centralia; 6 p.m.

The banquet will feature a social hour, dinner, a presentation and a silent auction to benefit the Rob Fuller Scholarship Fund.
