Mountain Festival Coming to Packwood
The Packwood Mountain Festival is being celebrated Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a variety of events throughout the weekend.
On Friday, workshops and demonstrations will be noon-3 p.m. A walking tour of Packwood will be at 7 p.m.
Saturday’s schedule will feature a parade at 10 a.m. A variety of events for kids will be ongoing throughout the day. Saturday evening will include a dinner and dance, with dinner at 6 p.m. and dance at 7.
On Sunday, there will be a 5k and 10k fun run/walk, which starts at 9 a.m. at the Packwood Timberland Library. A kids’ walk/run commences at 10:30 a.m.. At 1 p.m., there will be Native American drumming with Grandfather Roy Wilson of the Cowlitz Tribe and the Three Mountain Clan.
CC Botany Prof to Lead Seminary Hill Walk
Take a walk in the woods and stop to smell the flowers during the popular Wildflower Walk at the Seminary Hill Natural Area at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Lisa Carlson, botany professor at Centralia College, will guide this free nature walk, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area.
Carlson will teach attendees to identify native wildflowers and enjoy the beauty of spring in this century-old native forest just blocks from downtown Centralia.
The walk begins at 6:30 p.m., rain or shine. Meet at the Barner Drive entrance to the natural area at the eastern end of Locust Street.

• “Geology Walk” — 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, with Jim and Patty Ward (note: this event will be held at the upper entrance to the natural area, off Seminary Hill Road).

Free Dental Care to Be Offered in Chehalis
Chehalis Dental Care is hosting its fourth annual “Dentistry from the Heart” Friday at its office at 68 SW 13th St., Chehalis.
Registration will start at 7 a.m. for free dental care. The first 70 patients who register will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
The choice of filling, extraction or cleaning will be given to those age 18 years and up who can’t get dental care elsewhere.
Patients should arrive early, and dress appropriately for the weather, as they will be outside waiting to be seen. Chairs, blankets, water and snacks are encouraged.
