The best of Southwest Washington’s farms can be found under one roof at Colvin Ranch Provisions in Tenino’s Agriculture and Innovation Park.

Colvin Ranch Provisions is a new storefront that exclusively features products grown, raised and produced in Southwest Washington. The business, which expands on the family-owned and operated grass-fed cattle ranch near Tenino, will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at 16404 Old Highway 99 in Tenino.

Owned by Jennifer Colvin, Colvin Ranch Provisions kicked off with a soft opening earlier this summer but has spent much of the last few months stocking the shelves with products from local producers. Customers can find products from local sources such as Burnt Ridge Nursery & Orchards, HotBabe HotSauce, N.V. Harvest Sweet Corn, Black River Blues Blueberry Farm, as well as Colvin Ranch’s grass-fed and grass-finished beef and pasture-raised pork.

“We really spent the summer visiting farms and visiting with producers and finding a bunch of other great folks to carry in the store,” Colvin said. “We’re really excited to be able to highlight our local farmers and producers. These folks are just making incredible food. This is a great way for the community not only to get fresh food here locally, but it’s a way that directly supports these smaller farmers that maybe you wouldn’t otherwise have access to buy their products.”

Colvin Ranch was homesteaded by Ignatius Colvin, who came to Washington on the Oregon Trail in 1851 from Boone County, Missouri, according to the ranch’s website. Four generations later, the heart of Colvin Ranch’s mission is still to take care of the lands, the animals and the people in its community.

Jennifer Colvin believed the best path for expansion was to showcase the region’s best food, and the Agriculture and Innovation Park allowed her to do just that.

“When we had an opportunity to create a space at the Ag Park, we jumped on it because we just felt like it would be a great fit and a great location for what we wanted to do with the store,” she said. “Having infrastructure like this to support local agriculture is really important. It’s not enough just to have our farms and our ranches here. You have to get those products to the end consumer and on people’s plates.”

Southwest Washington stands out in the variety of products, as well as the talent and creativity of producers, Colvin said.

“If you want to experience the food of this region, this is one place where you can get a variety of different kinds of things that allow you to really taste and experience the bounty that is made specifically here,” she said.

Colvin Ranch Provisions continues to bring in new local products, including Chehalis mint, seasonal produce and tallow products. In the future, Colvin Ranch intends to open a new meat processing facility at the Agriculture and Innovation Park. The business is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
