City of Centralia Accepting Nominations for Volunteer Special Recognition Award Program

Posted

Know someone who volunteered in Centralia over the past year? The city is looking for nominees to consider for the first Volunteer Special Recognition Award, a new annual program dedicated to highlighting volunteer work being done by Centralia citizens.

Centralia City Council member Elizabeth Cameron created the program and is being assisted with the review process by Centralia City Council member Max Vogt and Centralia City Manager Rob Hill.

Cameron was moved to create this award following the year-round trash pickup done by volunteers in both the parks and on streets, the volunteer work completed during flood season and volunteer efforts to revitalize the Greenwood Cemetery.

“The City of Centralia recognizes and values its volunteers and is committed on an annual basis, to present a special recognition award to its volunteers during the second council meeting in January, commencing 2023, and each calendar year thereafter,” Cameron stated in a news release.

Nominations can be made by and for individuals, nonprofit organizations and businesses and must be made before the deadline of 5 p.m. on Oct. 31.

A volunteer nomination form can be found online at https://bit.ly/3UBDiPr, on the city’s Facebook page or picked up in person at a Centralia City Council meeting.

Completed forms can be dropped off at the city clerk’s office on 118 W. Maple St. or emailed to Cameron at ecameron@cityofcentralia.com.
