Centralia is now accepting community nominations for its 2025 Volunteer of the Year.
Centralia City Manager Michael Thomas announced that the city would begin accepting nomination forms during the Centralia City Council meeting Wednesday evening, Nov. 12.
Paper nomination forms are available at Centralia City Hall. For an online PDF copy of the form, visit https://tinyurl.com/wvv984cs.
Nominations for recognition of an impactful and dedicated volunteer in the Centralia area are due Dec. 1. That’s the Monday after Thanksgiving. According to the local official in charge of the process, Centralia City Clerk Kristan McConnell, after the nomination period is closed, the Centralia City Council will announce the nominees during its business meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
After nominations, the council will invite all of the nominees to receive their official recognition during the Centralia City Council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026.
During that meeting, the council will also announce one of those nominees as the Centralia Volunteer of the Year.
Last year, the Centralia City Council named Chuck Kifer Volunteer of the Year as it recognized him and 13 other nominees during a city council meeting in late January. The Centralia Volunteer of the Year Award and recognition of all the nominees began in 2022 with support from then-Centralia City Councilor Elizabeth Cameron.
