Police on Friday arrested a Vancouver man after a 12-year-old girl allegedly was raped.

Suliaman Abdul-Hadi, 24, faces allegations of second- and third-degree rape of a child, communication with a minor for immoral purposes, supplying liquor to minors, disorderly conduct, obstructing a police officer and failing to register as a sex offender, the Vancouver Police Department said in a statement.

Abdul-Hadi, a registered sex offender, allegedly raped the girl on July 11, and she ended up hospitalized, police said.

Days later, Abdul-Hadi tried to flee when officers went to his house in the 2900 block of Northeast 143rd Avenue in Vancouver, police said. Officers took him into custody with the help of a police dog, according to the statement.

Police said they continue to investigate the case and believe there may be more victims. They ask anyone with information to contact Detective LeAnn Cone at leann.cone@cityofvancouver.us or Sgt. Zachary Ripp at zachary.ripp@cityofvancouver.us.
