Chick-fil-A is expected to break ground this month on its new site across Art Lehman Drive from the Centralia WinCo Foods location.
The Port of Centralia announced the news Tuesday just a few weeks after announcing that the national fast food chain had closed on the plot of land in Port Park 3, otherwise known as Centralia Station.
According to the port’s announcement, construction is expected to last between six and nine months depending on weather, putting expected completion at the latest to be sometime in the middle of next summer. The Chick-fil-A location will be the first in Lewis County and follows recent expansion by the chain in the Olympia area.
“We’re excited to see this project moving forward and to welcome Chick-fil-A to Centralia Station,” Centralia Port Commissioner Peter Lahmann said in the announcement. “It’s a great addition for our community and another positive step forward.”
Chick-fil-A restaurants typically employ around 60 full-time and part-time employees, according to the port, which cited communications with the national chain.
The port added that the chain is the “third-largest quick-service restaurant company in the United States” and boasts more than 3,000 restaurants across the country, its territories and its neighbor to the north, Canada.
The new site will be just the second established tenant of Centralia Station, a 26-acre mixed-use development site with an emphasis on dining and retail establishments. WinCo, the first business to open in the development area, opened its doors last year.
