A woman accused of stabbing a man with a screwdriver made her first appearance on an assault charge in Lewis County Superior Court Monday
Amber Rai Wilson-Delaney, 35, of Chehalis, was charged with one count of third-degree assault, domestic violence.
Superior Court Judge Joely O’Rourke imposed $10,000 bail.
According to court documents and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just after 5 a.m. Saturday to a report of an assault in the 100 block of Oyler Road in Ethel.
The victim, identified as a 43-year-old man from Lacey, reported that he went to the location to talk to Wilson-Delaney, who he was in a relationship with.
The victim reported that he learned Wilson-Delaney was having a relationship with another man. They reportedly had a discussion and she left, according to court documents.
The man told deputies she later returned and started stabbing him in the arm and chest, breaking the skin with a Phillips head screwdriver.
The man reported he believed she was using drugs.
Wilson-Delaney has a 2016 conviction for possession of a controlled substance, according to court documents.
Wilson-Delaney told deputies the victim hit her, but according to court documents, she had no visible injuries. She declined to give deputies a statement and was originally arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.
Attorney Rachael Tiller, representing Wilson-Delaney on Monday, said her client argued that she was the victim, and that the 43-year-old man threatened her with a screwdriver and threatened to “torch” her possessions if she left the relationship.
