Chehalis Public Works Department staff to begin chip sealing on multiple roads throughout summer

With work scheduled to start this month, Chehalis Public Works Department staff are set to begin a chip sealing project on multiple roads throughout Chehalis, according to a city news release.

“Work is scheduled to start April 2025 and will continue through August. This work is weather dependent and inclement weather may cause some delays,” the release stated. “The chip seal program will be working 6 a.m. (to) 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.”

City officials ask motorists driving through chip seal work zones to slow down and drive with caution.

The chip sealing project will be carried out on the following streets in Chehalis:

• Southwest First Street between Southwest William Avenue and South Market Boulevard

• Southwest Third Street between Southwest Chehalis Avenue and South Market Boulevard

• Southwest Fourth Street between Southwest Cascade Avenue and South Market Boulevard

• Southwest Fifth Street between Southwest William Avenue and South Market Boulevard

• Southwest Sixth Street between Southwest Chehalis Avenue and South Market Boulevard

• Southwest Seventh Street between Southwest Cascade Avenue and South Market Boulevard

• Southwest Eighth Street between Southwest William Avenue and Southwest McFadden Avenue



• Southwest Ninth Street between Southwest Chehalis Avenue and South Market Boulevard

• Southwest 10th Street between Southwest William Avenue and South Market Boulevard

• Southwest 11th Street between Southwest Pacific Avenue and South Market Boulevard

• Southwest 12th Street between Southwest Cascade Avenue and South Market Boulevard

• Southwest McFadden Avenue from Southwest Third Street to Southwest 13th Street

• Southwest William Avenue from Southwest John Street to Southwest 11th Street

• Southwest Pacific Avenue from Southwest Third Street to Southwest 11th Street

This chip sealing program is part of city staff’s efforts to maintain and preserve its streets.

“We thank you for your cooperation during these weeks, and we will be moving as quickly as we can,” the release added.
