Voting on annexation in Chehalis could be coming in the next few weeks.

After the Chehalis City Council elected to recess its portion of the Oct. 20 joint public hearing with the Lewis County Board of Commissioners, the Chehalis City Council voted Monday to continue the public hearing concerning the interlocal agreement for annexation on Monday, Nov. 10. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m.

Chehalis City Manager Stacy Denham told councilors that a first reading vote would likely occur on that date, and a second and final reading would take place on Nov. 24 if the first reading is approved.

Public comments and testimonies can still be given during the public hearing, both in writing and in person at the meeting at Chehalis City Hall.

The city council will also hold a public hearing on Nov. 10 to provide the opportunity for comment and input on the city’s 10-year comprehensive plan update and mandated development regulation updates.
