Chairs Shift on Lewis County Board of Commissioners

The Lewis County Board of Commissioners played a game of bureaucratic musical chairs this week.

District 1 Commissioner Sean Swope, representing Centralia, was appointed to serve as the chair of the board beginning the year of 2023, taking over for District 2 Commissioner Lindsey Pollock, who represents most of Chehalis and western Lewis County.

The newest member of the board, Scott Brummer, from commissioner district 3, was appointed to serve as the vice-chair of the board.

“This is an annual change that happens every year,” said Reiva Lester, clerk of the board, in a county business meeting on Tuesday. The changes will be effective on Jan. 1.

While the chair is responsible for holding the gavel and moving the meetings along, all three commissioners’ votes are cast on items with equal value.
