Centralia’s Tyler Fagerness and Jamie Conzatti impressed at the Sibley Scramble at Alderbrook on Monday, as they teamed up to shoot a 64 to finish as the best pair at the event.
Eleven different schools were represented at the competition, and Fagerness and Conzatti’s score topped Montesano’s best duo by one stroke.
Because of a shotgun start, Fagerness and Conzatti teed off on Hole 18, which they promptly birdied, but they bogeyed Hole 1 and were even through two holes.
From there, though, they settled in.
“They got going and hit a couple of birdies,” Centralia assistant coach Chris Thomas said. “They were very excited.”
Centralia also had another duo at Alderbrook, as Ryder Henning and Evan Haines combined to shoot for a 74.
Combined with the 64, the Tigers finished with a team total of 138, which was good enough for second.
“Really proud of Ryder and Evan for playing well,” Thomas said.
Montesano finished in first to repeat as team champions.
On one of the holes, there was a long drive competition, and Conzatti’s drive narrowly finished as the best drive of the day, just barely beating out W.F. West’s Emmett Goodman.
Thomas added that one of the best things about the event is that all four players were able to play a round at Alderbrook.
The Tigers will be there again on Wednesday for a tri-match against Shelton and Tumwater.
