Centralia’s Zander Corwin finished second in the 2A District IV Tournament in Longview on Friday, headlining a group of area tennis players who qualified for the state tournament.
Corwin dropped just seven games in his first two victories to make the district title match, which was won by Columbia River’s Lucas Walburn.
Tumwater’s Bodie Jackson went 2-1 to capture third and also grab a state spot in the singles bracket, and Centralia’s Sylvester Stehr placed fourth to earn an alternate spot.
In the doubles bracket, Tumwater’s Max Bunn and Kieran Cox won three straight after losing their first matchup to finish third, and Centralia’s Jonah Lowe and Kadin Yeung finished fourth and are an alternate.
It was the fourth time that Bunn and Cox faced off against Lowe and Yeung, and the Tumwater duo went 4-0 in those matchups.
The state tournament will take place on May 22 and 23 at the Nordstrom Tennis Center in Seattle.
