Centralia Volunteer Award Nominees Announced

Nominees for the 2022 City of Centralia Volunteer Award were announced at the Centralia City Council meeting Tuesday night. The winner will be announced and awarded on Jan. 24.

The nominees are:

• Marveen Rohr — Greenwood Memorial Park

• Don Hays — Greenwood Memorial Park

• Loretta Hays — Greenwood Memorial Park

• Joyce Hoerling — Centralia Clean Team

• Cindy Browne  — Centralia Clean Team 

• Al Blaser — Centralia Clean Team

• Andy Oien — Public Works leadership team

• Darci Twining — Public Works leadership team

• Jeff Carr — Public Works leadership team



• Marc Baine — Public Works leadership team

• Patty Page — Public Works leadership team

• Rick Eaton — Public Works leadership team

• Judy Bell — Seminary Hill projects, maintenance and planning and development of a Master Forest Stewardship Plan

• Ron Averill — Volunteer work on boards and committees and Twin Cities Sports Commission

• Kathy Tennyson — Planting and Ecology projects in the Salzer Creek area for the Lewis Conservation District

• Edna Fund — Volunteers and provides reports to city on the Office of the Chehalis Basin and Chehalis Basin Flood Authority, historical committees, the Southwest Washington Fair and planting at the Pine Street Plaza. 

• Peter Lahmann — Volunteers time for Centralia Clean Team and for Memorial Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day events. He also participates and supports parades and events in Centralia as well as reports issues of relevance to the city council. 

Additionally, the entire Lewis County Master Gardeners group at Fort Borst Park was also nominated. 

The volunteers that tend to the demonstration garden at Fort Borst Park include: Lynn Ford, Jeannette Lawson, Mary Ann Albenesius, Linda Bartlett, Cecelia Boulais, Coleen Christensen, Dave Clevenger, Sue Cook, Don Enstrom, Woody Garrigus, Clyde Gartner, Charmaine Gill, Mike Lundahl, Bob Majoros, Sandy Papineau, Val Rasku, Pat Roden, Karen Servey, Eva Walker, Jacqueline Baltunis, Kate Cornman, El Everett-Bechtold, Laura McFarlane, Donna Smith, Kevin Batey, Tina Batey, Hannah Himley, Jolene Wainwright and Alex Thompson. 

Centralia City Councilor Elizabeth Cameron created the volunteer award earlier this year to help bring recognition to the work volunteers provide the city every year.
