Sparked by two goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation, the Tigers secured a triumphant 3-2 verdict against the Timberwolves on Wednesday night at Tiger Stadium.
Gabriel Cruz broke a 1-1 tie with a 70th minute goal for Centralia (1-0) and after Clover Park answered a couple minutes later, Christian Luis fired a shot into the back of the net to give the Tigers the season-opening win.
Returning all-league goalkeeper Alejandro Arevalo came away with eight saves. In the seventh minute, Sebastian Hernandez put Centralia ahead 1-0.
“The biggest thing we knew was that it would be a close game,” Tigers head coach Noel Vasquez said. “A lot of grit and determination. You can tell the boys are excited and motivated. I know they want to win.”
