Centralia sweeps Montesano on senior night

The Centralia tennis team put together a dominant outing on Friday, sweeping Montesano 6-0.

“This was our most solid performance yet, for each athlete and each position,” Centralia coach Keith Hopkins said. “Nothing came easy, but we earned the win with amazing grit.”

Esther Hopkins and Brook Frakes won in straight sets at the No. 2 and 3 singles spot, and Maya Lackie handed her opponent her first loss of the season in three sets.

“It was a highlight victory for Maya this season,” Hopkins said.

Aydan Butler and Madi Breckel, Saryn Pelesky and Suki Bringman, and Eliyah Rooklidge and Neela Haywood all won their doubles matches in straight sets, losing just a combined 14 games across the three matches.

Keith Hopkins said that there were “too many players to highlight” individually, instead giving credit to the entire team.

“We are peaking at just the right time,” Keith Hopkins said. “We’re ready for Chehalis on Monday and subs the following week.”

That matchup against W.F. West will be in Chehalis.
