Although Centralia students are back in the classroom, the school board must still approve contracts with its teachers.
The next school board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, but there is not currently a time or location posted for the meeting.
The Centralia School District did not confirm what time or location the meeting will take place as of Monday at 10:15 a.m. However, the district is required to post the agenda, meeting time and location 24 hours prior to the meeting. The information will be available on the district’s website at https://www.centralia.k12.wa.us/domain/542.
The CSD and Centralia Education Association (CEA) reached a tentative agreement on Monday, Sept. 10. The following morning, the CEA ratified that agreement. The final step is for the Centralia School Board to approve the agreement.
The Chronicle obtained the a copy of the tentative salary schedule from the Washington Education Association. The salary schedule shows the base salary for a teacher with a bachelor’s degree and no experience would be $44,000 in 2018-19. With TRI — time, responsibility and incentive — a teacher with a bachelor’s degree and no experience would make $46,017. The highest possible base salary a teacher could earn in the district would be $90,794, and $94,955 with TRI in 2018-19.
The CSD previously declined to share a copy of the salary schedule or full tentative collective bargaining agreement. The WEA did not immediately respond to a request for the full tentative collective bargaining agreement. Once the Centralia School Board approves the agreement, it becomes public record.
