Centralia School Board Accepting Applications for Vacant Seat

The Centralia School District is accepting applications for appointment to a vacant school board position through 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 14, the district announced Friday.

Applicants must be registered to vote and must reside in Centralia, according to the school district.

Board members attend twice monthly board meetings as well as special board meetings and executive sessions. Board members may also participate in committees related to education and attend many school events throughout the year, according to the school district.

A school board member is part of a five-member school board that works together to oversee the school district. As a board, their primary responsibilities are:

• Set the vision, mission and strategic goals for the district

• Review, revise and adopt policies



• Approve and oversee the budget

• Serve as a community representative

• Monitor the district's progress towards its goals

• Hire, supervise and evaluate the superintendent
