Centralia Public Works Set to Begin Flushing Fire Hydrants on Oct. 10

The City of Centralia Public Works department announced Monday its employees will begin to flush fire hydrants in the city next Monday, Oct. 10.

Hydrant flushing is conducted twice a year and is preventative maintenance aimed at preventing random bouts of rusty water during times of high demand for water.

During the flushing process, tap water in Centralia will still be safe to drink. The process will take approximately three weeks while city employees work their way throughout each neighborhood in Centralia.
