The Centralia Prevention Coalition will hold a town hall meeting for area families of older students on March 19 at Centralia High School.

The night is intended for families of teenagers, but anyone interested in learning more about substance use risks youth are facing are welcome to attend.

Caregivers will attend a presentation called “Hidden In Plain Sight” featuring a mock teenager’s bedroom that those 18 and over can tour to look for clues of youth substance use or mental health issues, a news release stated.

Jen Dorsett will then speak with caregivers about the items they discovered, ingredients and specific risks associated with these items, information about local youth trends, and strategies for caregivers to have successful conversations with their kids.

Teens will attend a driving safety presentation facilitated by Rachelle Gardner from Target Zero that will speak to distracted and impaired driving, peer pressure and refusal skills, and about the Teens In The Driver Seat program that Target Zero offers.

The event will happen from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the Commons at Centralia High School. Dinner will be available, and access to local resource providers will open from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.

The two presentations will happen in separate spaces from 6:15 to 7:40 p.m.

The Prevention Coalition will hold a raffle and have more time for families to connect with resource providers until 8 p.m.
