The Centralia Planning Commission will hold a special meeting on Thursday, March 28, to discuss the city’s ongoing comprehensive plan update.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at Centralia City Hall, 118 W. Maple St., in downtown Centralia.

A discussion of land use designations and urban growth area (UGA) boundaries in Centralia will be the meeting’s primary focus, according to a City of Centralia news release.

The meeting’s agenda will be posted to the city’s website at least 24 hours before the meeting  at https://www.cityofcentralia.com/AgendaCenter/Planning-Commission-6.

A comprehensive plan is a 20-year vision establishing goals, policies and implementation strategies surrounding a community’s growth. The plan focuses on land use, population and employment growth.

The Washington state Growth Management Act requires all cities and counties to maintain and update their comprehensive plans periodically, and Centralia’s is due for an update by June 30, 2025.
