A Centralia man is facing a second-degree assault charge in Lewis County Superior Court for allegedly trapping a woman inside a residential bathroom and choking her during an argument early Wednesday morning.

The woman reported the suspect, identified as Dalton Reese Palmer, 26, blocked her exit from a bathroom inside a Centralia residence, at one point putting his arm “around her upper torso” as she tried to push past him, according to court documents.

She reported “she then bit Palmer’s arm to have him let her go,” at which point Palmer allegedly “squeezed around her neck, making it difficult to breathe.”

The woman reported Palmer squeezed her neck for approximately 30 seconds, adding that “she was seeing stars,” according to court documents.

After releasing her neck, Palmer allegedly dragged the woman to the bedroom and punched a hole in the wall, according to court documents.

Officers with the Centralia Police Department responded to the incident just after 1:10 a.m. on Feb. 28, according to police call logs.

When questioned, Palmer allegedly “admitted everything except squeezing around (the woman’s) neck,” according to court documents.

Officers took photos of the woman’s injuries and the damaged wall.

Palmer was booked into the Lewis County Jail the morning of Feb. 28. He was released at approximately 10:30 p.m. that same day after he posted $10,000 bail.  An arraignment hearing on one count of second-degree assault, domestic violence is scheduled for Thursday, March 7.

A no-contact order protecting the victim is in place.
