A Centralia man faces felony charges after he allegedly kicked a police officer in the chest following his arrest.
Kolby C. Wilson, 27, is charged with one count of third-degree assault, a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
Prior to his arrest, Wilson had allegedly brandished a knife during a domestic dispute, according to Centralia police.
Wilson made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court on Monday. A judge set bail at $5,000 cash or bond, citing his limited criminal history.
Wilson was released from custody on Tuesday after posting bail.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Centralia police responded to the domestic dispute on Sunday and arrested Wilson for possible charges of fourth-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief.
An officer escorted Wilson to his patrol vehicle. When the officer attempted to secure a seat belt around Wilson, Wilson allegedly turned and kicked him in the chest.
The alleged blow knocked the officer to the ground, but did not injure him.
Another officer assisted and helped secure Wilson inside the vehicle. He was then transported to the Lewis County Jail.
Wilson is scheduled for an arraignment on Thursday.
