Police arrested a Centralia man Sunday following multiple alleged thefts at the local Safeway supermarket.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the man was previously trespassed from the store in September 2024.
Jeff D. Prindle, 40, faces two counts of second-degree burglary, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and two counts of third-degree theft, each considered a gross misdemeanor.
Prindle made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court on Monday. A judge set bail at $5,000 cash or bond.
Prindle’s release conditions prohibit him from contacting any Safeway stores.
According to the affidavit, a Centralia police officer responded to the reported theft on May 3 and spoke with a store employee who said a male had left the store and self-checkout area without scanning all of his items.
After reviewing security footage, the officer found and arrested the suspect, who reportedly still had the stolen items. The man, now identified as Prindle, allegedly admitted to the theft.
The store employee reportedly told the officer that Prindle had committed a previous theft at the store after he had been trespassed for life.
The affidavit says Prindle has been issued 22 warrants for his arrest in other cases.
He is scheduled for an arraignment on Thursday, May 7.
