A Chehalis woman was preparing for bed the night of Oct. 1 when her dog began barking. The woman looked out the window and saw a man walking toward her home.
The alleged suspect, Bryant R. Elliott, 29, of Centralia, is prohibited from contacting the woman through an active no-contact order, according to prosecutors.
The woman told Elliott to leave. Elliott stayed. He allegedly tried to open the front door, which was locked. He then began throwing things at her window, the woman reported.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office, the woman told Elliott “she was going to count to five before she called 911.”
Elliott ran. The woman called 911.
A Lewis County Sheriff’s Office sergeant found Elliott on Kirkland Road and arrested him. When interviewed, Elliott allegedly admitted to trying to open the woman’s door.
Deputies booked Elliott into the Lewis County Jail at about 2 a.m. Oct. 2. He made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court on Monday, charged with violating a court order and attempted residential burglary, both considered domestic violence offenses.
A judge set bail at $100,000 cash or bond.
According to court documents, Elliott has prior adult convictions for escape from community custody, second-degree burglary, conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and fourth-degree assault, among other offenses.
Elliott, described as an “intimate partner” in court documents, is prohibited from coming within 1,000 feet of the woman’s residence. The no-contact order is valid until August 2035.
Elliott is scheduled for an arraignment on Thursday.
