Centralia High School made a strong showing at the SkillsUSA State Leadership & Skills Conference Thursday, March 27, through Saturday, March 29.
Among the highlights for Hub City students were Owen Sharp, who earned first place in Individual Welding; Carlos Cozar, Saryn Pelesky and Pedro Picaz, first in Occupational Health and Safety; Saryn Pelesky, first place in T-Shirt Design and was selected for the SkillsUSA Officer Team; Picazo, who won third in Carpentry; Jack Klawitter, who earned third in Photography; Destin Perkins and Julyonna Smith, third in Audio Production; and Will Guthrie and Evan Thummel, who won first place in 3D Animation.

Additionally, Bella Tenney and Jack Klawitter won a $500 prize in the SkillsUSA Treasure Hunt.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce, according to the organization’s website. SkillsUSA programs include local, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills.
