Do you feel you belong in Centralia?
If not, what would it take you to make it feel like the Hub City is truly the place for you?
The Centralia Downtown Association (CDA) is asking.
The downtown association launched its Belonging Barometer Survey earlier this month as the local group seeks to better understand what makes Centralia residents feel included and connected to the place they live.
The survey is being conducted in partnership with the Washington Main Street Program, which seeks to revitalize and sustain the appearance and economic success of downtown commercial districts throughout the state.
The survey, which is open to the public, is anonymous and asks locals to share their feelings and connections specifically to the downtown corridor of Centralia.
According to a news release from Centralia Downtown Association Executive Director, MacKenzie McGee, the survey is about more than just what makes residents proud of their downtown.
It is specifically looking for feedback about building relationships with residents and making them feel they belong in the downtown area.
“Belonging looks different for everyone, and that's exactly why we need to hear from as many people as possible," McGee said in the announcement. "We spend a lot of time measuring the physical and economic improvements happening in our community, but it's equally important to understand how people feel about the place they live, work and spend their time. Those experiences matter."
The CDA is looking for people from all corners of Centralia and the surrounding areas who have a connection to the city. Lifetime residents, young students, new arrivals and business owners are all invited to take the survey.
“Every voice brings a different perspective, and every perspective helps tell a more complete story of our community,” reads the recent announcement.
