Centralia Council Adds Speed, Access Restrictions to Certain Streets Designated as Truck Routes

Posted

During its Tuesday meeting, the Centralia City Council held a public hearing for — and passed on first reading — new speed restrictions for large trucks on sections of three city streets.

Certain roadways in the city that are designated as truck routes go through residential neighborhoods, with trucks restricted from traveling on them between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., and the stipulation of truckers not driving over 20 miles per hour during the rest of the time.

Before the council’s move on the matter, the streets subject to these restrictions were Johnson Road between Harrison Avenue and Reynolds Avenue and also First Street between Harrison Avenue and Pearl Street.

The sections of city streets that have been added to the restriction list are:

• B Street between Sixth Street and Kearny Street

• Kearny Street between B Streets and Central Boulevard

• Central Boulevard between Kearny Street and the north end of Central Boulevard
