Two members of the Centralia College men’s soccer team signed with Northwest University (NU) in Kirkland on Thursday, marking the second and third transfers in program history.
Tristan Evans and Chasten Rodman both signed their letter of intents to play at NU next season in a signing ceremony at Centralia College, and CC coach Noel Vazquez was there to celebrate with them.
Evans played in 14 games this past fall, starting 13 of them, and he scored seven goals, while Rodman appeared in 16 games, including 14 starts.
They join Matthew Orihuela as CC transfers, as Orihuela signed with Jamestown University in North Dakota in a separate ceremony last month. Orihuela played in 17 games last autumn for CC.
“I’m extremely excited for their future and for them to continue their athletic careers,” Vazquez said.
The CC men’s soccer program finished its second season last fall, and Vazquez is thrilled to see some of his Trailblazers already getting attention from bigger schools.
“It’s a big deal for us,” Vazquez said. “I didn’t think that we would be ready to transfer players this early on, but it shows that we’re doing something right on the academic side and in the soccer sense.
“It’s a really good feeling,” Vazquez added. “Hopefully, we can continue to see them down the road as they continue to grow as people.”
