Making its fourth hire for an open head coaching position in the past year, the Centralia College athletic department officially named Ceanna Larson its new volleyball coach for the 2023 season this fall.

Larson joins a string of other hires made in the last year, including Tiffany Twiddy (women’s hoops), Joe Chirhart (men’s hoops), and Noel Vazquez (men’s soccer).

“I am very excited to join the Centralia College athletic department,” Larson said. “My passion for coaching in a diverse and inclusive environment, where young women can receive a quality education made Centralia an instant ‘yes!’ for me.”

Larson most recently held the reins of Blue Mountain Community College’s volleyball program, serving as head coach for each of the last four seasons for a rebuilding program in Pendleton, Oregon. BMCC went 34-61 over the last four seasons.

Larson has 18 years of coaching experience, working as a club coach for both boys and girls, a high school coach and district program director, a club director, and as an NAIA DII assistant coach at Dakota State and recruitment coordinator.

“Having the opportunity to build a program that pushes athletes to reach their peak performance, that gives our players purpose, provides a supportive family atmosphere, and empowers young women to be leaders on and off the court is a true honor,” she said. “I am committed to creating a positive program and fostering an environment where my female athletes can succeed both academically and athletically.

“I am looking forward to building relationships with our local volleyball community and creating opportunities for continued growth in our sport.”
