Centralia College Asks for Nominations for Distinguished Alumnus

Posted

A Centralia College selection committee is looking for nominations for its annual distinguished alumnus award. The award is given to an individual who attended the college for at least one year and has made significant contributions to his or her profession or society in general, according to a press release from the college.

The recipient of the award is named in the spring and later recognized at the college’s commencement ceremony in June.

Thirty-eight individuals have received the award. Previous winners include Brian Valentine, former senior vice president with Microsoft; Dr. Jerris Hedges, whose work was instrumental in developing the pacemaker; Del Smith, founder of Evergreen International Aviation, Inc.; Angela Meade, a world renowned opera singer; and Patty Morton, America’s first female U.S. State Department special agent.

The community is responsible for making nominations, and so the selection committee has asked the public to share information about those who have attended Centralia College.

For more information or for a nomination form, contact the Centralia College Foundation at 360-623-8942.

Nominations can be emailed to julia.johnson@centralia.edu or mailed to Julia Johnson, 600 Centralia College Blvd., Centralia, WA, 98531.

The nomination should include a statement that outlines why the nominee should be considered for the honor.
