Centralia City Council to Conduct Candidate Interviews for Vacant Seat

Posted

Candidates looking to fill the at-large Centralia City Council position — left vacant after Leah Daarud resigned last month — will be interviewed during a special meeting the public is invited to attend on Tuesday evening, according to a news release from the city.

The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at Centralia City Hall, located at 118 W. Maple St. in downtown Centralia. A total of seven candidates have been named as finalists to fill the position, including Russell Barr, Jeremy Corwin, Johnny Dunnagan, Amber Ferrano, Elba Garibay, Steven Hubbard and Candice Sanders.

The Centralia City Council may convene an executive session during the meeting to discuss candidate qualifications, but all interviews, subsequent nominations and votes must be conducted in the public meeting.

The candidate selected will serve out the remainder of Daarud’s term in office, which ends Dec. 31. If elected during this year’s general election, the appointee will continue serving.
