Nearly 100 members of the Centralia Washington Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, along with members of the Lewis County Parks and Recreation department, held a community service cleanup event Saturday, Sept. 9, according to a news release from the church.

The event was held at Rose Park in Chehalis, where volunteers cleared the nearly half-mile hiking trail of unwanted vegetation and debris, widened the trail, cut up and removed fallen trees, sanded picnic tables in preparation for resurfacing and restored exercise stations along the park’s trail.

“A potluck lunch and fellowship followed the cleanup event with all enjoying good food sponsored by Fuller's Shop ‘N Kart store in Centralia and participants,” stated the release.

Rose Park is located at 263 Penning Road, just off state Route 6 in Chehalis.
